If we raised the tax levy, even by $.05, we would still be less than Fauquier and Culpeper, and right in line with Orange. The farmers and land use residents of the county would not be affected that much. The regular homeowner, say with an average assessment of $285,000, this is a guess, now pays $2,280.00. They would pay $2,422.50, a difference of $142.50. Are the children of this county not worth $142.50? I know my kids are.

We need a change an^ we need the supervisors of this county to start thinking about the youth. If we don’t, we are going to be a community of retired people, with no services and no children. I personally know three families w’hose children are going to Highland and Notre Dame for the sports programs. We are losing children left and right. We need to do something and we need to do it now. When it is time for the next election, I WILL be running for the Board of Supervisor for Jackson District. I encourage other 30 and 40 something parents, with children in our school system, to get involved and run for School Board and Board of Supervisors.
