In last weeks paper, in the article
about the High School Track, Supervisor Roger Welch in so many words, has said that the children of Rappahannock County are not worth 2 cents In order for the money for the track to be given to the school, the County would have to raise the tax levy by 2 cents and “even that would not be enough” according to Mr. McCarthy. Enough is enough! I am so sick and tired of the children of this County being left out in the cold, literally and physically. We do not have one single thing in this county for the youth to do, that is funded fully by this county. We do not have a Parks & Recreation program, we do not have a community center, we do not have a community pool, we have nothing.
A proposal was given to build an auxiliary gym, a track and football field, an extension to RCES, and to fix the roof at RCES. What has been accomplished? The roof, the gym has been scaled down, taking out the bleachers, and office for the P.E. teacher and room for the P.E. equipment, the addition has been deleted, and the track is now going to be done half way! When the money was asked for it was enough, but prices have gone up, as we all know that they would, the roof ran into issues, as well as the electricity at
