9:20 a.m. November 12, Saturday
David Yowell, 24, of Stanly, VA was driving eastbound on US 211 near Amissville when the vehicle traveling in front of him slowed suddenly. Yowell’s 1991 Ford F150 hit the trailer being towed by a 1988 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Howard Bartenstein of Amissville. The trailer in turn was pushed into the Monte Carlo. Bartenstein, 48, and his wife Violet,51, were transported with non-life threatening injuries. The Bartenstein’s vehicle sustained $10,000 in damages while Yowell’s vehicle was unharmed. Yowell was charged with Reckless Driving by State Trooper Derrick Mauck.
