The Rappahannock Water and Sewer Authority, the body appointed by the Board of Supervisors to oversee the Sperryville sewage treatment plant and the water and sewer system of the Tbwn of Washington had its monthly meeting on November 3. Like most of their meetings, this one was brief and primarily consisted of looking over the books for the Sperryville plant.
The plant has somewhat over $40,000 in cash in its coffers, and approximately another $150,000 in certificates of deposit.
Board members Daniel Keyser and Gene Leggett noted that only a few plants of its type still exist, that the plant is aging and depreciation is gathering speed. Not imminently, but in the not too distant future, major changes and upgrades will begin to be discussed.
