The plant is designed to be able to handle a bit over 50,000 gallons of effluent a day. Ittyp ically takes in around 30,000 gallons a day. But when there are unusually heavy rains, there can be infiltration of groundwater that are off the scale. Measurement stops after a hundred thousand gallons in a day. The authority is beginning to examine ways to prevent or reduce this occasional infiltration issue, but no concrete plans have been proposed.
