Brooke Parkhurst is a member of the Irish hand Tinsmith (www.tinsmith.net), and a founding member of the former Washington, D.C. band Clishmaclaver. In Tinsmith, her powerful and elegant vocals are at the core of the band’s success.
As well as her successful career with Tinsmith, Brooke has continued a modest solo career playing a miir of - Appalachian and Celtic music.
She has won a WAMMIE (Washington Area Musicians Association Award) as best female folk vocalist and been nominated numerous times for vocals, instrumentals, albums and group or duo (Tinsmith).
Her discography includes five recorded albums with a new one on the way.

Conversation on Aging
March 24
By the year 2020, the number of Rappahannock County residents age 60 and over will have doubled. The counties in Planning District Nine, including Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock are experiencing the growth of retirement-age population at a higher rate than the state average and higher than the overall county population increase. The Eldercare Coalition, a regional partnership working with community leaders, seniors, and care providers, has developed a community plan to ensure that necessary resources for elders and their families will be available as the population grows.
All interested residents from Rappahannock are invited to attend a Community Conversation on Aging on Friday, March 24, at the Washington Fire Hall. All concerned citizens, members of the healthcare community, policy-makers, employers, and caregivers are encouraged to participate and join in this exchange of ideas. This meeting will be a continuation of the Conversation held in May 2005. We welcome those participants who attended last year’s meeting, as well as first-time participants. Other county meetings will be held on:

March 21: Orange County
March 22: Fauquier County
March 30: Culpeper County
^ f The 2006 Community Conversation will give an update on U what the partnership has done over the past year and talk about future plans for moving forward. On Friday, March 24th registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Washington Fire | Hall with the program starting promptly at 9:45 a.m. A com| plimentary light lunch will be provided. Guest speaker Dr. * Richard Lindsay, former head of Geriatrics medicine at University of Virginia and Chairman of the State Council on Aging, will address the group with his insightful and humorous talk “Golden Opportunity.”
The Community Conversation is sponsored jointly by the Rappahannock County Elder Coalition and the Rappahannock Rapidan Eldercare Coalition. Funding for the five-county partnership, “Aging Tbgether: Five Communities Creating Choices”, is provided by Community Partnerships for Older Adults, a program of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The goal of the partnership is to foster communication, coordinate and generate awareness, and enhance 1 resources for elders and their families in the counties of i Culpeper, Fauquier, Orange, Madison and Rappahannock. A regional strategic plan, incorporating the vision and priorities identified in each county’s Community Conversation, has been developed and will be presented at the Conversation on h March 24.
