past month, Scrabble School student records and school reports for years 1953-67 were located. These documents provide invaluable information about the school’s operations and its students as well as connecting information to more alumni. The records will be used by students in Rappahannock County High School’s Geospatial Technologies class to construct a computer-based map about the history of the school.
Lander observed, “As information about Scrabble School and its history gets to the public, we find more and more interest and support for the project. It is really becoming a community effort.”
The Foundation has applied for additional grant monies for the structure’s rehabilitation and for interpretive assistance. Each of these grants, and the received Rosenwald grant, require a one to-one match' in funds and/or “in-kind” contributions. Mrs. Warner commented,
