found a few things that I believe are worth sharing with you.
One reporter wrote that the VP was an “over and under shooter,” and he said that meant that the VP shot twice whenever a covey of quail was flushed.
It means nothing of the kind. What it means is the VP was using a double barreled shotgun that has the barrels configured in a certain way, i.e., one barrel is mounted on top of the other, and it is referred to as an over and under. Older, more traditional, double barreled shotguns are now referred to as side by sides, and the barrels are, you guessed it, side by side.
