Warner’s untimely death in 2003 precluded his fulfilling his dream. With a nudging by Supervisor Bob Anderson to several citizens of Stonewall/ Hawthorne District, the project was resurrected and is well on its way to becoming the entity that Warner envisioned.

Preliminary designs for “The Rappahannock Senior Citizen Center and the Scrabble School Heritage • Center” are being prepared by an architecture firm skilled in historic preservation and interpretation. An oral history initiative is underway that will develop the “Scrabble School Story” for future generations’ information and understanding.
