Herzog said that the outcome of Allen’s match has led Rappahannock to “talk to the VHSL (Virginia High School League) about our concerns.”
The Panthers sent a DVD of Allen’s match to the VHSL for its review. The chances of the VHSL overturning the match’s outcome are slim, but Rappahannock hopes that no other wrestler will ever face the same situation that Allen did.
“When I looked at the film, it looked to me like I won the match, 5-2,” Allen said. “We know that there is no possibility that the (outcome) can be changed, but there has to be some other system. I don’t want anyone else ever to go through this again.”
As upsetting and frustrating the outcome was, Herzog could not have been prouder with Allen’s attitude at the conclusion of the match.
“Dos handled himself extremely well,” he said. “Under the circumstances, he showed what man of man he is. He shook his opponent’s hand, the other coaches’ hands, the referees’ hands. And he was the first one to shake Isaac’s hand, too. He was right there cheering for Isaac.”
