You know friends in one fashion or another I’ve managed to see a good sized piece of the country. I’ve only got three or four states left and I’ll have visited every single state on the entire east coast. The thing is that even though some of those states were very nice and some of the people I met there were right friendly there is no place like this place and everyday I thank God for my place in this place. Bit of a tongue twister wasn’t it!
Anyhow the other week we all went down to Florida and Spent five days at Walt Disney World. And while the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves I have to tell you the truth that on my own list of fun things to do it ranked right up there with the time I somehow managed to trip and stick my head through the large glass fish tank my parents used to own. I say used to own because it wasn’t through the top but rather face first through the side (read through the glass here) that I managed to get a really up close look at a goldfish. An before anyone says it, no, that is not why my face looks this way!
Anyway for me both experiences had just about the same amount of pain involved and confusion as well. I’ve dealt with kids, prisoners, and half broke mules and had an easier time getting around and along with them than just about everyone I ran into or rather that ran into me at Disney World. Of course I am exaggerating just a little bit, out of the say couple hundred thousand people at least who had to be there, half of which I am sure did indeed run into or tried to step on me, I can say that I honestly counted ten people who ever said “excuse me” or “I’m sorry” when they did. Thank God for Chester Gap though ‘cause I can tell you that no place ever looked as good as when I rounded the comer in Huntly and the mountain loomed up before us. I swear it was like spotting land after being lost at sea.

The Chester Gap Vol. Fire and Rescue Department would like to apologize for the short and probably useless notice given to postpone last month’s community meeting. The department would be more than happy to host a meeting in March if the community so desires and if you do please call the department’s phone line at 540-635-5482 and leave a message to that extent. As soon as we hear from you all we’ll set up the time and date see if we can’t get some notices sent out too.
The department would also like to thank the Chester Gap Grocery for the gift of the chest refrigerator/cooler. The Chester Gap Grocery has been a tremendous asset and friend to the department and continues to help out in anyway they can. So the next time you stop in to the store up here make sure you say hi to Sonny and Mary Williams, and thank them both for all they do.
