A great many terrible things

are happening around the world. Some of us have been struck dumb by the sheer number of outrages which must be explored and exposed.

I urge all who are troubled to speak out. Perhaps you would like to read the letter I sent today to one of our Senators.

Senator John Warner

225 Russell Senate Office Building

Washington DC 20510

Dear Senator Warner,

While I did not vote for you,

and while we disagree on many things I have through the years felt an increasing respect for you as a decent and very hard working man of real integrity; a man who wants the best for his country, and a man with an open mind.

I turn to you now to beg of you to stand up in strong opposition to the path down which we are going.

I would ask you to initiate or back:

•An independent commission to look into the entire issue of torture, to trace the new egregious policies to the top, and to stop it,

• A Congressional task force
