might be wondering if I’ll mention you here: hi.
Spring is coming, and I won’t be here, so others will have to do and enjoy all the Rappahannock things I wish I could. For starters, go out and hunt morels in April and May. Get some local asparagus as soon as it sprouts- the stuff from Joyce Abell’s patch they sell at Penny Lane is really good. So is Goat Hill Farm’s. And organic strawberries from Sunnyside Farms a little later- nothing better can be purchased at any price outside of Rappahannock. Go hiking up Old Rag and swimming on White Oak Canyon. Go up to Red Oak in the Summer and pick wine berries, then watch the sunset from the top of the mountain. Go to the orchards and get some tomatoes and Sun High peaches when they come ripe in July and August. Pick currants at Goat Hill farms, black raspberries at Muskrat Haven. Go swimming in a pond. Write about it on Rappnet and go off on a tangent angering someone.
That’ll do. Hopefully I’ll be back in the fall to see the leaves and eat the apples myself.
