Double testing
Part of the reason the middle school math scores went up dramatically this year was the result of double testing.
Double testing is when a sixth or seventh grader who has advanced into an algebra class takes the regular math SOL test as well, as an algebra SOL test.
“If you look at the impact that double testing had on grades six and seven, you can see that it was definitely a very wise move.” said Dr. Greer.
Last year, Rappahannock schools did not double test students because of a state recommendation.
Official state results of the SOLs will be released later this year.
