Saturday night at 7:00, The Child Care and Learning Center sponsored their second annual pre-Auction cocktail party. Over a hundred guests, bearing donations of auctionable items and monetary gifts, gathered to celebrate CCLC’s coming thirtieth anniversary of serving young children in Rappahannock County. The event was a true example of community spirit and wholehearted support of this worthy cause.
But, it is the behind-thescenes story that makes this event so noteworthy. The hosts extra-ordinaire, John and Beverly Sullivan, opened their home, “ The Meadows,” to guests who donated either $100 to go toward CCLC’s Fall Auction fundraiser expenses, or who donated an item or service that will be auction this November. The Sullivans’ beautiful home and gardens are the most splendid and unrivaled setting for a cocktail party that promised “grazing' and libations. It could not have been more perfect.
To make good on the “grazing” promise, Food Chairperson and caterer at large, Kay Miller and her “Friends” produced a spread that left nothing to be desired. She orchestrated the presentation of a myriad of dishes ranging from tiny delicate ham biscuits, caviar morsels, barbequed shrimp to smoked salmon and an array of cheeses the Inn would be proud of.
