have eqjoyed reading about her success with the sheriff’s office over the years. Whether she’s helping apprehend a murder suspect or taking a child shopping at Christmas, she is the model of professionalism and represents her county and uniform admirably.
So often the top job, especially in law enforcement, is decided in a popularity contest or the person is appointed as a payback for a favor owed or a hefty campaign contribution. It happens in the federal government all the time and it results in the wrong person occupying the job.
Once in a while, though, we are given a candidate who rises up through the ranks by working hard and being fair.
