the town’s Architectural Review Board, said increased police presence on Main Street may also help drivers be more mindful of their speed. She noted that deputies often use Mount Salem Avenue to get to the sheriffs office from U.S. 211, and that leaves Main Street largely unpatrolled.
“We’ve had several guests who are in law enforcement and they’re surprised we live a block from a sheriff’s office, because they see no police officers” she said.
The Schwartzes own the Heritage House Bed and Breakfast on Main Street in Washington.
Williams said he personally uses multiple entrances into town, and has seen other deputies do the same unless they have to get to the sheriff5s office quickly for some reason.
