Who would deliberately sign up for another month of school during their summer vacation?
That’s just what three Rappahannock County High School students did this summer as they attended the Governor’s School for Humanities and Visual & Performing Arts at the University of Richmond.
Colleen Daly, Osha Kondori, and Caroline Massie were chosen to join 400 students throughout the state for advanced curriculum activities in Humanities and Theatre.
Massie noted that it was an entirely different experience than a typical Rappahannock summer, as she was introduced to different people from around the state. “It made me realize what college would be like,” she said, “I had a lot of freedom but I had to make a lot of decisions for myself such as getting to class and meeting new people,” she said.
Attending students had classes on Saturday and had mandatory scheduled events. Each year, the students that join the program attend several cultural events throughout the area.
