In early July, Aging Together Partnership received a Spirit of Collaboration Award from the Virginia League of Social Services Executives, recognizing the work of organizations that demonstrate a “true spirit of collaboration and coordination in the human services arena for the community it serves.” This award is especially welcomed by Aging Together because the nomination was submitted by the Directors of Social Services for each of the five counties of the planning district including Nan Coppedge, Madison; Bob Lingo, Orange, Bev Dunford, Rappahannock,: Jan Selbo, Fauquier, and Lisa Peacock, Culpeper. Aging Together was dted for the innovation of its unique collaborative structure and holistic approach to improving long term care and supports for current and future older citizens.
Aging Together is a community partnership of over 100 organizations and individuals in Planning District Nine dedicated to improving quality of life and supports for older adults and their families, and is part of the national Community Partnerships for Older Adults (CPFOA) initiative. CPFOA is a national program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to help communities develop leadership, innovative solutions and options to meet the needs of older adults over the long term.
