Farm-to-lhble
With guidance and encouragement from Lilo Wolfe, the RCES Service Committee worked on the courtyard garden at the elementary school. Students laid landscape fabric and mulched the area that will serve as an outdoor classroom.
Student interns Forrest Marqui$ee„ . , Brpannah Sh'ahkle, and Mandy Smoot did a great job this summer harvesting, planting summer crops, and cleaning up the RCES courtyard. Four raised beds wall be built and filled with soil this summer.
Because Joyce Abell has generously invited F2T to expand its garden space on her land, Program Coordinator Trista Scheuerlein hopes to increase donations to the Senior Nutrition Center in the coming year. Last year, F2Ts donations of fresh, student-grown produce totaled 120 pounds to the schools and the Senior Center. This year's goal is to donate 500 pounds of food.
