A record 43 kids showed up fir the first day of Rappahannock County High School football practice Wednesday, as new RCHS coach Mike Williams takes the reins and attempts to move the fledgling third-year program from perennial punching bag to Bull Run District contenders.
“It’s a real joy to see this many players here. The numbers will go up more when we bring in our eighth-graders. We’re hoping to see 60 kids between varsity and junior varsity" Williams said. “We are real pleased with the kids that are out here. We want the kids who want to play football on this team."
The Panthers have gone 218 since the program was implemented in 2005, causing many folks to call for the school board to squash the program. This season - thanks to a friendlier schedule and three
