In keeping with the military theme, Williams plans to run the 3-5-3 defense, a relatively uncommon defense that Georgia Military College has started to make popular in the South.
“We will have three down lineman, five linebackers and three defensive hacks,” Williams said. “It’s a defense that’s predicated cm applying pressure. We will be attacking the offense from somewhere on every play.”
The first day of practice was spent implementing the attacking offense and aggressive defense. And after day one, many of the players came away impressed with Coach Williams.
“He’s brought in a whole new attitude,” senior quarterback Jonathan Butler said. “He’s set the bar high. This season we’re hoping to turn some heads and show people that the Rappahannock football program can be successful.”
