than one occasion, what to do about these visits and encounters. Let me repeat something: I am no bear expert. Our bears are wild creatures, tremendously quick and agile, and strong enough to do horrific damage to even the biggest human, in the blink of an eye.
I thought our little abode might be immune. We are pretty much out in the open, with little cover for large wild animals. Our neighbor, Mrs. Lee, told me last week that she had seen one crossing her yard. I have yet to see one here, but he paid us a visit during the night.
Monday morning, our bird feeders were a shambles. The heavy metal shepherd’s hooks looked like pretzels. I knew they had been to my mother-in-law’s house, and to several other homes. They have learned to like bird feed, and are quite adept at getting to it.
