The first joy of Christmas for many of us comes with a song heard in a public place, on the radio, or perhaps in a store. Music that stirs happy memories of celebrating Christ’s birth with family and friends.
A wonderful opportunity to start your Christmas season is in just such a manner has been created by the Blue Ridge chorale, whose singers will perform at The Theatre in Washington cm Friday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. Musical Director Virginia Erwin has put together a “Feast of Christmas Musk,” with selections from the classics, like the “Halleliyah Chorus,” modem sacred and secular songs, and popular cards in which the audience will be invited to participate. A special visit from Father Christmas has been arranged. Charlie Gilmer will accompany the choir on the piano, and Margery Manuh will play the harp. Rebecca Bennett will be on hand to sign the entire concert for the hearing-impaired.
What’s more, with children being such a special focus in this season, the Youth Chorus will perform songs of their own, under the direction of Cathy terWeele, as well as joining the Chorale and the audience as part of the “feast* Christmas, Christmas musk, and a Children’s Choir - what a great start to the Holiday Season!
