Purse snatched
A woman called the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office at 9 pan. on Nov. 19 to report that her blue Honda Civic had been broken into while it was parked on Zachary Taylor Highway near Huntly.
According to the report from the sheriff’s* office, her purse, containing between $60 and $70, was taken during the incident. The perpetrator broke the front, passengerside window to get inside the car.
Tree hit
A Castleton man was charged with reckless driving after his vehicle ran off Castle Mountain Road and hit a tree around 5:10 pan. on Nov. 20, according to the Virginia State Police.
Russell Carrier, the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to the Fauquier Emergency Room for medical treatment. Bullet bounces back
A 23-year-old man on Comptons Road was accidentally shot by his own bullet while hunting on Nov. 22.
According to the sheriff’s report, the man was shooting at a squirrel when his bullet ricocheted and hit him in the lower abdominal area. He was airlifted for medical attention, but his injuries were not life threatening, the report said.
Another break-in
For the second time in less than three weeks, someone burglarized Early's Carpet.
The security alarm sounded at the Amissville store on Saturday evening. Some $30 in cash was taken from the cash register and about $200 in checks were stolen, according to the sheriff’s report.
According to the report, someone who lives near the store on Lee Highway saw a man in a black, hooded sweatshirt cross the road around the time of the incident. A light-colored truck was also spotted parked on the side of the road in the vicinity of the store.
