Fortunately, a friend in the White House photo pool assured me that working near the President and First Lady, especially minutes before the Israeli premier was due in the same spot, would be different than shooting the water jump at Great Meadow.

Okay, okay, I said on Friday, phone in hand to the White House press office and, later, to Mrs. Bush’s personal social secretary. A few faxes later, I was assured that appropriate credentials awaited me at the Northwest press entrance to the White House.
