tarfish, the mentoring proOgram of Headwaters Public Education Foundation, is looking to recruit a few good men (and women) to be an adult volunteer friend to a youth. Starfish currently has a backlog of boys who want men as mentors to enjoy spending time with. I have mentored a young man for six years and would like to share my experience as a mentor in order to answer questions someone might have.
How much time is required? I usually spend one afternoon a week with my mentee. During the school year, I pick him up after school and we spend the afternoon together. We usually have a burger together and I take him home by seven.
