Inmatecharged
An inmate at the Rappahannock County Jail was charged with simple assault around 5 pan. Sunday for hitting another inmate during an argument.
Sheriff’s Deputy Angela Deavers charged Tiffany Ann Billings, 30, with the misdemeanor. According to the sheriff’s office report, the disturbance was quelled immediately and the victim did not retaliate.
Potential nol pros
Likely prosecution in a neighboring county may get Jeremy Critchfield off the hook for charges pending in Rappahannock.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said Monday in Rappahannock County Circuit Court that Critchfield is scheduled to be indicted Dec. 3 in Warren County. Therefore, the commonwealth’s attorney said he plans to let the Eustis, Fla., man be prosecuted in Warren and not prosecute him in Rappahannock.
On Nov. 14, Critchfield was indicted on one charge of credit card theft and two charges of credit card forgery in Rappahannock.
Public defender Kevin Gerrity argued that Critchfield’s charges in Rappahannock should be dropped if he is not prosecuted in the county. Further disposition on the case is scheduled for Dec. 21.
Plea plans
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said Monday in Rappahannock County Circuit Court that Mary Elizabeth Donovan has indicated that she is willing to plead guilty to felony charges of check forgery and uttering.
On Nov. 14, the Sperryville woman was indicted on nine counts of check forgery and nine counts of passing forged checks. Luke said some of the charges will likely be dropped if Donovan pleads guilty.
The case is scheduled to be continued Dec. 21.
