Bonita Burr, of Madison County, has been teaching Spanish at Germanna for about five years.
“I took this as a retirement job.” she said.
Burr lived in Spain for over 20 years and is fluent in Spanish. The class she teaches addresses the basics of communication, focusing on practical use of the language.
“There are a lot of people who want to be able to communicate with people they work with or people they run into,” she said.
Burr said the class typically has no more than ten students, most of whom are working adults or retirees.
