Politics Out

To the editor:

The claim made by certain individuals in Rappahannock that the present method of selecting school board members keeps politics out of education is pure propaganda.

I have no objections to Newbill Miller being my representative on the school board at this time.

However, how does the School Board Trustee Committee give credibility to their non-political philosophy when this man is the elected mayor of Washington, Va.?

Because he is an elected public official, that makes him a politician.

If you are keeping politics out of education, then why would you appoint a politician to the school board?
