school board decided to end four years of controversy over space needs by following a series of logical steps.
The first, he said, was the study of existing space completed by Stokes and himself. The second should be “a professional evaluation of what goes on in those schools,” he said.
If this professional evaluation determines that space is being used at its maximum efficience, then the school board will recommended a building program, according to Eastham. “If he comes out with ‘Boys, you not only have all the space you need but more,’ then I’m not going to vote for new buildings,” Eastham stated.
Miller agreed that it’s poor business to embark on a building program without having the situation studied by a competent specialist.
Noting that several space studies have been completed in' the past four years but none accepted, Luke asked what plans the school board has if their expert consultant recommends a $2 million construction program. “I just want to make sure that the school board will be willing to recommend some action” after $7,000 is spent on a special consultant, he said.
