Leopold Steindl arrived lr America from Vienna Austria, for the second time on Monday, June 9. His visit was arranged by his family as a 60th birthday gift. The gift of airline tickets to Virginia fulfilled a longtime dream ot Steindl's to visit his friend Lyle Rector of Marshall (formerly of Rappahannock).
Steindl and Rector met ir 1944 at New Orleans Armj Base. At that time, Steind was a POW who was assigned work as an in terpreter and Rector was a sergeant assigned to the Army base.
When Germany overran Austria during World War II, Steindl was inducted into the German army, thus his first "visit” to the United States.
