Sets Carnival
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department announces that its annual carnival has been scheduled for July 23-26 this year.
Candidates for honorary fire chief are being sought now and young ladies between ages 13-20 are asked to contact Kim Gilkey at 6355472.
Correction
In last week’s edition of the Rappahannock News, the figures on Orange County tax bills, with and without land use taxation, had decimals in the wrong place. Under land use, the average Orange farmers pay $2 in taxes per acre for agricultural property. For land not in the land use program, the average tax bill is $4 for acre. By comparison, the average landowner in Rappahannock County pays slightly less than S2 per care in taxes without land use, based on current assessments.
The Rappahnnock News regrets the error.
