‘‘We have liability insurance but we don’t want to use it.” remarked school board member Newbill Miller, suggesting the money for the lights be left in the proposed budget.
Bloomer noted that the current school budget contains $14,000 for underground gas tanks and site preparation that won’t be spent this year. A portion of this would buy the emergency lights if there was time enough to order and pay for the equipment before June 30. the end of the current fiscal year, he said.
