Planning commissioner Newbill Miller told the supervisors that the proposal, currently in subcommittee, would “strengthen our ordinances as they are now written."
Proposed by Loudoun County, the legislation would give "any local governing body having the preservation of farmland as one of the purposes of its comprehensive plan, the implementation of measures which allow nonfarrn uses to occur at a rate and in locations which conform to the locality's comprehensive plan and capital improvements program,” provided both ‘‘contain reasonable provisions for tVie future extension or improvement of roads, streets, utilities, water and sewer lines, and other appropriate public facilities to those areas of the locality designated for future development.”
The supervisors agreed to inform Delegate Raymond R. “Andy" Guest of their endorsement of the enabling legislation and designated Miller as their representative to appear in support of the bill at later public hearings.
In response to criticism voiced at last month's board meeting, dog warden Jack Bruce gave the supervisors details on Monday of his work to date this year in controlling stray dogs.
