Chasing Livestock
Bruce said he'd received a report from Junior Eastham on August 20 of a pack of German shepherd dogs chasing livestock in the Forest Grove area. Checking with neighbors, Bruce said he determined that the animals belonged to Raymond Slaughter and so visited Slaughter’s house on August 24 and 31 and September 8 and 28 but found no one at home. Returning the night of September 28, Bruce talked with Slaughter, trying to persuade him to give up three adult shepherds and two puppies. "I begged him but he wouldn’t agree. I said he would have to vaccinate and tag the dogs. He agreed to do that and to put them up and keep them up,” Bruce said.
The dog warden said he returned August 29 and found all the dogs running loose and again went back October 15 but no one was home.
