Huff maintained that Amissville's opposition centered around the long distance calls that would be required to reach a dispatch center in Washineton.
“The rest of us have been making toll calls for five years (to Culpeper for dispatch),” Huff noted. “Are you going to appease five companies or listen to one?"
He described the $5,000 committed by the supervisors for dispatch equipment as a nominal amount compared to the sums raised for fire and rescue services by volunteer members.
