Landowners and hunters filled the court house last Wednesday to hear recommendations from a special committee on solutions to the county's problem with slob hunters.
The committee—Capt. William Keim, Homer Henry, Joyce DeBergh and J. J. Dwyer—proposed that the supervisors pass a resolution asking the Virginia Game Commission to (1) prohibit killing deer driven by dogs and (2) set a statewide deer season of equal duration to replace the current 12 days west of the Blue Ridge and 43 days east cf the mountains.
The group also suggested that the supervisors pass a local ordinance which would make it illegal to hunt within 100 feet of a public road or to discharge a firearm across or towards a public road.
