Judgeships
The Senate approved two bills Monday that would create new judgeships in the Circuit and Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts in the 20th judicial district.
A third circuit court judge and a second juvenile court judge would be added to help handle overloaded dockets in both courts. The 20th district contains Loudoun, Fauquier and Rappahannock counties.
The new positions are still pending approval from the House and Gov. Charles S. Robb, although no opposition is expected from either the House or the governor.
Interviews with candidates for the judgeships will take place soon, but no dates have been set.
Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney Thomas B. Horne is the frontrunner for the circuit court position. The two candidates who will be considered for the juvenile court bench are Fauquier Commonwealth's Attorney
