Leggett told the supervisors on Monday that a dispatch center must be staffed 24 hours per day, seven days a week by qualified personnel in order to get the SM.600 grant for equipment.
“That rules out any system based primarily on volunteers. The fire departments feel that the requirements for manning are more than they can handle so we’re talking about paid dispatchers, maybe supplemented by a volunteer,” Leggett said.
