If there's a theme that runs through the art created by Rex Slack, it's that beauty lies more in truth than in prettiness.
He repeats that theme over and over again with pieces that span the spectrum from traditional watercolors to ultra-modern combinations of media—part collage, part construction, part painting.
In what may rank as one of the major art events of the year in Piedmont Virginia, an exhibit of Slack's work, entitled "Rural Images." will open at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington this Sunday.
