William M. Carrigan, the father of the town’s July 4th celebration. He was the prime mover behind organization of Washington’s Independance Day Country Fair, bringing the annual occasion with him from his home town in the mid-west 20 years ago.
Roger Roach, chief of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, is over-all chairman of activities for the big day. Other members of the program committee are Gene Leggett, president of the WVFD, and Brad Fisher, town councilman and captain of the Washington Rescue Squad.
