industrial yet rural area of coal mines, chemical plants “and mountains that spring up like dinosaurs.” He began painting and drawing as a child. “1 felt like I was blind the whole time I was growing up, that I didn’t really see. I started drawing so I could see the world better.”
He studied art at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C., and at the Art Student’s League in New York. “But I wanted to get out of the city. I needed a lot of space to do art and it’s so beautiful here,” he said, explaining his move to Rappahannock County seven years ago. “It’s almost too beautiful.
