The images created through this new art form are stark, even depressing, capturing the hopelessness of a South American slum or the loneliness of an abandoned wreck of a house with an old mattress left in its back room, a resting place now for stray dogs or traveling hobos.
Rex Slack works in the more traditional mode as well, painting a crowd at a bus station or two boys trudging down a country lane. Most of his paintings capture personnal images.
