Slack works at construction to support himself, gutting old houses and putting up dry wall in the first step of restoration. He’s taken that sweaty, dusty labor and turned it into art, using pieces of old walls as the base for mixed media expression. “I found beauty there,” Slack says of the hours and hours he’s spent tearing down old plaster and boards. “I’ve tried to capture it in my work, to answer the questions of who lived there and what’s the history behind an old house.
