The young women like being twins. “It's definitely been a conversation piece... and you can really count on and trust your twin,” Karen said.
They adopt opposite positions on the questions of whether they’d like to be the mothers of twins themselves someday. “No!” was Dee's reply. “It’s too much money and too much hassle when you have two little ones at the same time. But I wouldn’t mind twins when they got to be about eight.”
Karen has no objections to twins anytime. “Mom said two were never any more trouble than one,” she recalled.
They both were equally thankful they weren’t born boys. Their mother was sure she wouldn’t have girls and so when they entered the world, it was without names already waiting for them. Karen was named after a relative. "And mom got my name—Deidre—from a soap opera,” Dee admitted with a giggle.
