The boys track team had nine first-time lettermen: Carl Frye (880 relay and high jump), Jeff Porter (880 relay and 100 yard dash), Glenn Fletcher (880 relay, 220 and 100 yard dashes), Edward Summers (220 and 100 yard dashes), Jimmie Freeman (330 intermediate and 100 yard high hurdles), Ronnie Atkins (one and two mile runs), Chris Caperton (440 run and mile relay), Larry Sisk (880 run and mile relay) and Robert Starks (440 run, 220 dash and mile relay).
All the above mentioned athletes had an outstanding season.
