For the Democrats the degree of grnmpiness is greater; for the Republicans it is less.
Coming down to the convention wire, the Democrats are said to be in a state of disarray. But this subsumes the party reached this condition from a previous state of array, if there is such a thing.
The last time the Democrats enjoyed a period of non-disarray was before the 1966 primary, but when the polls closed on that tumultous election evening, disarray set in. Since then it has been the party’s constant companion and, in a sense, its guiding light.
Indeed, disarray has become the Democrat’s normal condition. They would not know how to act without it.
