Besides providing a dependable water supply to Massie's livestock, the spring development also dried up a wet area that presented problems to him from time to time and was a possible hazard to his livestock during the winter months. When properly installed and maintained, it can give years of service.
A typical spring development consists of drain tile, gravel, a collection box. pipe from the collection box to the trough and a cut-off wall (consisting of good clay material or concrete).
