A new challenger has joined the fight against Potomac Edison power company’s plans to upgrade its existing 34.5 kilovolt line to 172 kilovolts from Luray to Sperryville and apparently on to Front ..Royal and Gordonsville.
At its national board meeting held recently in Harrisonburg, the Izaac Walton League agreed to enter the ring, inviting the Rappahannock Homeowners Association, the citizens’ group organized to oppose the utility’s project, to become a committee of the League. “They will take this on as an environmental issue. If the line goes on, it will create environmental pollution.
